TMW SYSTEMS ANNOUNCES CONTRACT WITH LINDEN BULK TRANSPORTATION CO., INC.
After looking for a new enterprise software solution for over three years, Linden Companies has selected TMW Systems, the leading developer of enterprise solutions for the North American trucking industry. Linden signed a license agreement to purchase TMWSuite™, TMW Systems’ client-server based enterprise software solution.
Linden Companies is a regional tank truck carrier with some national presence. Linden has Northeast and Southwest operations, with terminals in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas and Louisiana. The company operates a modern fleet of 320 tractors and 580 trailers and chassis, and services such clients as Dow Chemical, Exxon and Sunoco.
Prior to TMWSuite™, Linden used a proprietary software system. According to Lou DiNicola, Vice President Transportation, Linden saw a trend in the tank truck industry going towards TMW Systems. Linden was leaning towards choosing TMW because they felt like TMW was working hard to make programs that were user-friendly to the bulk industry, but hadn’t yet made the commitment when they noticed several major bulk carriers, specifically Schneider National Bulk, take on TMW. Linden felt that their decision to go with TMW was the right choice.
When looking at various criteria to make their decision, Linden’s DiNicola stressed customization as a major contributing factor to choosing TMW. “TMW was going to give us more options to design screens and do things we wanted to do by department, versus giving us a generic situation that we would have to adapt to,” said DiNicola. Linden felt another strength of TMW’s was their add-on modules, including Shoplink, TMW’s maintenance package. “We felt that TMW was going to bring a great value to our maintenance program from the standpoint of control and cost analysis, and this capability influenced our decision to go with them,” DiNicola said.
Reporting was another area that contributed to Linden’s decision. According to DiNicola, TMW’s reporting capabilities far outweighed what Linden was capable of doing with their existing system. “TMW was going to give us some pre-written programming, plus they were going to give us the opportunity to write our own programs based on definitions we would create,” said DiNicola. “The biggest value-added aspect of going with TMW was that we would have the ability to extract anything we put into our database in a report format, which we weren’t able to do before.”
As a total package, DiNicola sums up TMWSuite™: “We saw the potential was there with TMW to streamline and make our operations more efficient. It was going to add tremendous value to our shop operations, and it was going to give us reporting capabilities that would allow our management team to make some very informed decisions.” DiNicola stressed that the end result is ultimately for Linden to be able to give customers better service. “That’s what this is all about,” DiNicola emphasized, “giving our customers the best possible service for the lowest price. And we believe we’ll be able to drive out costs using TMW’s system through the ability to report effectively and, in turn, give our customers value-added service.”
Linden is currently in the process of installing TMWSuite, with a planned “go live” date of November. After laying the foundation with the basic TMWSuite package, Linden is also considering more add-on modules in the future, including the tracking module, which would allow for direct satellite feed into the dispatch system.
Tom Weisz, founder and CEO of TMW Systems, Inc. is pleased that Linden saw TMW as a solution that meets their needs. “We’ve worked hard to understand the needs of bulk carriers, and to develop programs for them,” Weisz said. “We’re glad that Linden recognized this area of expertise within TMW, and we’re looking forward to helping them maintain a high level of service with their customers.”
