Position Purpose:

We are seeking a technology-fluent, online marketing assistant who will join our small, b2b marketing department as we expand from our traditional media presence to a greater interactive presence on the Web. If you have experience with creating and managing content for web sites, blogs, and online banner advertisements and you can communicate clearly and engagingly, this entry-level position could be a great start for your career.

The Online Marketing Assistant helps create, maintain, measure, analyze and optimize our various online marketing programs. The Online Marketing Assistant will collaborate with other Marketing staff, Product Management, Sales and other functions to help create and deploy highly effective online marketing programs, including email campaigns, blogs, co-marketing opportunities, copywriting for the web, online advertising, SEM and more. This position is both creative and analytical in nature. To be successful, you will have very strong written and verbal communication skills, feel passionate about the value of the web in business-to-business marketing, possess strong computer skills and some knowledge of internet marketing concepts, and exhibit an unwavering attention to detail. This position reports to the Director of Marketing.

Responsibilities:

  • Learn and understand the unique characteristics of our vertical markets and our various product lines in order to produce effective written content for web and for print collateral
  • Manage our paid search, online directory ad campaigns and budgets
  • Attach tracking codes to our online ads and coordinate with the campaign tracking features in our NetSuite CRM system to track and measure ad success
  • Learn and use marketing campaign and marketing email capabilities in our NetSuite CRM system
  • Help create and maintain a new customer-facing website focused on product education and awareness
  • Research, write & edit copy for: landing pages, product descriptions, SEO blocks, blogs, articles & case studies in consistent writing style
  • Suggest website features and enhancements to leadership
  • Work with Marketing, Product Management and Sales to develop and execute highly effective direct response programs to significantly increase inbound lead flow and pipeline generation.
  • Evaluate tools and technologies that will assist in management of emerging media channels
  • Contribute to the development of a company social media plan and corporate guidelines
  • Coordinate online partnerships and advertising opportunities
  • Perform link building for SEO
  • Contribute to promotions and email planning sessions
  • Prepare progress reports/status updates monthly/weekly for assigned tasks and initiatives
  • Contribute to strategic planning sessions
  • Execute tactical marketing projects and assignments
  • Provide support for other areas of marketing as needed
  • Research marketing trends
  • Document new processes and procedures
  • Train other team members

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field of study (Advertising, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or similar)
  • Internet savvy
  • Creative writing skills
  • High degree of familiarity and comfort with online interactions, website administration, and email communications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint user, and experience with illustration and image manipulation software (GIMP, Paint Shop Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Basic HTML Coding ability
  • Experience with blogging, social media, or social networking
  • Customer service experience
  • Avid reader
  • Detail oriented and highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Self motivated with a high level of initiative and a sense of urgency
  • Knowledge of the transportation industry a huge plus
