There are many considerations such as adhering to DOT driver regulations and schedule routes that hit time windows over multiple days. To help solve these problems, DirectRoute was developed to account for layover times, multiple day time-windows, and DOT drive time regulations. You establish the max work time, max drive time, minimum layover, max layover and standard work-day for each driver/truck. You also assign separate costs to overtime, wait time, drop costs, and layover costs.
